Director’s Message

Greetings to the WGS Community!

As the academic year winds down, we pause to reflect on resilience in the face of adversity. At times the challenges seem insurmountable, but we continue to persevere and grow along the way.

I truly appreciate the staff, faculty and students who have contributed to the vitality of Women’s & Gender Studies with their outstanding scholarship, excellent teaching and compassion for others. Their commitment to gender and racial justice and creating an inclusive community is inspiring. I invite you to watch our latest video featuring stories and accomplishments of our team that support this commitment.

These are uncertain times in our country as racial and social justice are challenged by ongoing and systemic discrimination and violence. We are also witnessing resilience and hope as people protest and mobilize on behalf of marginalized communities. The WGS Program is united in solidarity with the BIPOC and LGBTQIA+ communities in our efforts to create equitable and inclusive spaces.

Finally, CONGRATULATIONS to our graduating students! This is truly a time of celebration for the WGS majors and minors who will graduate in person at Jack Trice Stadium. We wish you the best as you embark on continuing education, new employment, community service or travel. You have worked hard and contributed so much to our classes and program in the past several years. Good luck and keep in touch about your latest adventures!

Please consider a donation to support the WGS Program.
